8 Cars Made Famous in Action Movies

Just as there are famous actors, movies and musicians, so too are there famous cars. We thought it would be cool to take a journey through eight of our favourite action movie vehicles made famous by the silver-screen.

Here is a list of some of our favourites!



The Eleanor Mustang

The 1967 Ford Mustang, nicknamed the Eleanor Mustang, was used in 2000’s Gone in 60 Seconds. The car packs a punch with a 351 Ford V8 engine with 400 horsepower. 11 Eleanor Mustangs were manufactured for the movie and only three of them could be driven. During the production of the movie, two cars were destroyed and only one Eleanor remained for photo shoots. This car was eventually sold in 2013.



Aston Martin DB5

James Bond fans are no strangers to the Aston Martin DB5. Considered one of the most famous James Bond cars and one of the most beautiful Aston Martins, the DB5 was featured in 1964’s Goldfinger.

This iconic vehicle has been featured in other Bond films including Thunderball, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale and Skyfall.



DeLorean DMC-12

The DeLorean became iconic in the Back to the Future film trilogy, making its appearance as a modified time machine created by the ever-memorable Doc Brown.

Originally built between 1981 and 1982, the car features a gull-wing door design in the movie. It was also fitted with a plutonium-powered reactor that could output 1.21 gigawatts of power. Just remember Marty McFly had to read a speed of 88 miles per hour to make it back to the future!


4. 1968 FORD MUSTANG GT 390

1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 Bullitt

The 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 achieved fame by being driven by acting legend Steve McQueen in the film Bullitt. The movie is well-known for its chase scenes in the streets of San Francisco, where inspector Frank Bullitt was chasing a 1968 Dodge Charger.

These scenes became legendary! Now the 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 is an instant classic.

The next series of cars were featured in The Fast and the Furious series of movies.



1995 Toyota Supra

After crash the 1970 Dodge Charger, the 1995 Toyota Supra Turbo was Dom’s escape car of choice in The Fast and the Furious. This beast of a car is equipped with a Twin Turbo 2JZ-GTE engine, Bomex Body Kit, Stage 3-T-4 Turbo and a Dual Wet-Shot Nitrous-Engage. The specs speak for itself!



1970 Dodge Charger

The 1970 Dodge Charger was the iconic muscle car from The Fast and the Furious. It was the main car Dominic Toretto drove in the films, and has been destroyed and rebuilt a number of times. The Charger eventually made a return in the fifth film. The car outputs an immensely powerful 900 horsepower and is synonymous with The Fast and the Furious films.



1999 Nissan Skyline GTR

The 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R is one of our top picks from The Fast and the Furious film series. When the fifth iteration of this car came into production it kept its 2.6 litre Twin Turbo engine, but introduced a whole new chassis. With new engine valve timing, camshafts and a ceramic turbocharger the output of the car came to 320 horsepower.



Bumblebee’s Camaro

Our final pick for this blog post, comes to us from the Transformers movies by Michael Bay. This car is none other than the 2007 Chevrolet Camaro which was Bumblebee in the films. Bumblebee was one of the main Autobots in the Transformers movies. This rally yellow Camaro has since become a staple of all the Transformer films.
