Audi’s first “S” badged Q7 SUV will go on sale in South Africa sometime in 2016. Subject to rumours previously, we have some information on what to expect.
Positioned above the SQ5 in terms of size and price, the SQ7 is based on the new Q7 SUV that’s scheduled for release locally in the next half of the year, and sports a brand new engine. Featuring a new 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 TDI turbo diesel, the SQ7 engine produces over 300kW and 800Nm of torque. Currently, in comparison, the biggest engine – the 4.2-litre V8 TDI turbo diesel – found in the VW Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne – producing 250kW and 283kW of power respectively.
According to reports, the Audi SQ7, coupled with its standard 8-speed automatic gearbox, should give it a sub-6 second 0-100km/h sprint time and average fuel consumption under 9-litres per 100km.
Nice “extras” on this top-of-the-line performance Q7 include, but not limited to, full LED headlights (with Matrix as an option), large 20 or 21-inch wheels, four exhaust tailpipes, a leather interior with Alcantara options, an advanced MMI infotainment system with in-car Wi-Fi, sports seats, brushed metal/ aluminium foot pedals.
