Selling around 730,000 units worldwide, the BMW X1 has proven a popular choice for BMW buyers. It may not be as big as the X3, but the current X1, is more spacious than the 3-Series, fitting quite snuggly between the two. BMW South Africa has announced that a brand new, beefier X1 will be hitting our shores around October 2015. In the new x1, you will find that it meets the X-series design brief a whole lot more than previously. While previous editions have looked a little out of sorts in the X family that has all changed now. The 2015 BMW X1 features more space, along with a new bulgous exterior design.
The X1 comes in two front-wheel drives on the entry-level variants, the X1 sDrive 18i and X1 sDrive20i.
New 6-speed manual and 8-speed Steptronic gearboxes have also found their way into the new X1. Two petrol engines and one diesel engine will be available in the range heading to South African shores. Power ranges from 110kW for the sDrive 18i to 170kW from the xDrive 25i.
The new BMW X1 will go on sale in South Africa with the following engine variants:
BMW X1 sDrive18i,
BMW X1 sDrive 20i,
BMW X1 xDrive20d,
BMW X1 xDrive20i,
BMW X1 xDrive 25i.
Pricing and specs will be confirmed closer to launch.
