The Nissan GTR: Performance vehicle, sports car, and now… police car? You read that right. The Police Force in Japan recently added a Nissan GT-R to its fleet of patrol vehicles.
The Nissan GT-R Police Car
The Nissan factory in Tochigi where the car is assembled recently turned 50 years old. To celebrate this achievement, Nissan gifted the local police prefecture in Tochigi with a Nissan GT-R to add to its patrol fleet.
The Nissan GT-R has been given the affectionate nickname of “Godzilla” and with its fearsome image, it’s easy to see why. The car has been painted in the police force’s black and white colours, fitted with sirens and lights, and adorned with police decal.

The Nissan GT-R: a high performance street vehicle
Since its unveilling in 2007, the Nissan GT-R has become one of the world’s favourite sports cars. With its formidable appearance inspired by Japanese art and culture, the V6-powered car is made more powerful with two parallel turbochargers.
The car has won numerous awards, including being named International Car of the Year in 2009, and setting a Guinness World Record for fastest 0-60mph acceleration by a four-seater production car.
