Flying the Coup’ – Our Favorite Coupe’s in South Africa
We’ve all considered slipping into something a little sleeker at some stage. Invariably, we end up looking at coupe’s. I mean, who among us hasn’t had the vision of stepping out of a low slung, two-door speed machine, akin to Magnum PI emerging from his bright red Ferrari 308 GTS.

Nissan Skyline GT-R
There really is no other place to start than the incredible GT-R. It hasn’t earned the nickname ‘Godzilla’ for nothing. The Japanese beast was designed and built for one purpose, and one purpose only – the pursuit of driving perfection. Each 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged engine is built in a hermetically sealed factory, resulting in 390kW to power you from 0 – 100km/h in an organ rearranging 3.9 seconds. With every angle, facade and vent has meticulously engineered for maximum aerodynamic effect, you won’t be lacking speed in the bends either.
Since the introduction of the original M3 in the mid-1980’s BMW have been the masters of the fast saloon and coupe. Since its introduction in 2014, the M4 has fast become one of the most popular coupe’s in South Africa. The twin-turbo 3 litre power plant, coupled to a rear wheel drive system provides a driving experience true to BMW’s motto – sheer driving pleasure.
This choice is all about the aura and experience. The Mustang is an American Muscle legend, and the new version lives up to its illustrious ancestors. The 5 litre V8 produces an earthquake inducing rumble. Combine that with an aggressive stance, and you have a car with real presence. The Mustang is definitely the choice to make if you want to be seen.
